Topics Discussed

Spring is Coming

The weather is warming up, the grounds will start to bare flowers and the pool is soon to open. We thought a few reminders should be presented. Remember that quiet hours are enforced between 10pm and 8am. Remember to keep your guest quiet as well as our parties shift outdoors with the changes in weather and the holidays coming up.

Community Rule Updates/Changes

There is a great community here and we want to keep it that way. There will be a “working copy” of the Community Rules mailed to every resident very soon. PLEASE take a minute to read over the rules, note any changes and give any suggestions or feedback you feel necessary. The committee has worked hard to make sure that we will continue to have a comfortable, safe environment here. Any suggestions can be made to a member of the committee. We want to make sure everyone is familiar with the rules in Garden Park and make sure that no one feels uninformed or unaware of rules enforced within Garden Park. All of the current bylaws and community rules are available at TPM. The current community rules are available on our website at gardenparkcondos.com.

The Japanese Beetle

Garden Park is part of the “Japanese Beetle Eradication Program” for 2008. We are still within the treatment area of the Japanese Beetle. The literature for this year states, “the products used this year allow for gardens”. HOWEVER, fruits and vegetables should not be consumed until a certain amount of time has passed following treatments. (see: http://ag.utah.gov/pressrel/JBInfoPage.html or contact USU 801-851-8463) If you are going to plant be informed and do at your OWN RISK. The treatments are scheduled to start mid-June. There are treatments planned for trees, shrubs, flowers, gardens, lawns, bare grounds, and soils. 48-72 hours advance notice of when this treatment begins will be given to residents by door-to-door contact and/or written notices left at the residences when personal contact is not possible.
We should take certain precautions during treatment applications: close windows, bring pets and children inside, and cover patio furniture to prevent damage. Stay off treated lawns until the material is completely dry.

Share the Harvest

Because of the restrictions on planting gardens there has been a program set up called “Share the Harvest”. This is for residents living within the effected areas to be able to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables. People living within the neighborhoods can go to their corresponding chair or they can go directly to the Senior Center (93 N. 400 E.) to pick up the food.

Spring Cleaning

Help us keep Garden Park beautiful! Make sure that you are keeping our common areas, walkways, and lawn areas clean and free of personal property. Make sure you are familiar with our Community Rules and bylaws to ensure avoiding dreaded fines associated with objects left in common areas.

Fines/ Warnings

In the past there has been an understanding that prior to fines there will be given personal warnings. We have decided that the Community Rules, Bylaws, Newsletters, and Committee Meetings are considered warnings. It is each resident’s responsibility to read and understand the rules and law where they choose to live.

Maintenance is Scheduled

Over the next few months we will see repairs to fences, pool tiles, corrections in lighting along fence lines and painting throughout Garden Park. Any suggestions for repairs should be directed to Norm Neilson.

Building Representatives

We are in need of a few volunteers to be Building Representatives. These volunteers and used as a way to keep all residents informed and safe. There isn’t much of a time commitment involved in this position. If you are willing to help please contact, Tom Powell.

Park Walk

A park walk is going to be scheduled for May. More information to come.
