Topics Discussed

New Committee Member

As some of you might already know Jennifer Carter, who was our Vice-Chair on the committee, has chosen to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The committee has followed precedence and appointed the candidate who received the next to highest number of votes during this last election, to fill the vacant spot on the committee. Debbie Farnsworth has taken Jennifer Carter’s place on the committee. We would like to thank Jennifer for her brief but great service to our community and also thank Debbie for accepting the position.

Popcorn Ceiling

Recently, we have had a test done on several ceilings in Garden Park. Those tests came back positive for asbestos. This only poses a threat when the popcorn ceiling is removed, creating an aerosol of the asbestos. If you are planning to remove your ceiling and would like to have it tested you can contact TPM for the name and numbers of the labs that can do the tests. If you remove the ceiling without having the test performed you should be aware of the dangers that asbestos poses.

Next Meeting

The next committee meeting will be held at 7:00PM on 9 April 2009. To be on the agenda you must contact someone on the committee two day prior to the meeting.

Survey

We have received most of the survey results. Thank you taking the time to complete them. When most of us started on the committee we thought that we would be inundated with feedback. On the contrary, we have found that the hardest thing about being on the committee is getting feed back. This survey gave us feedback on many different areas and allowed us to gauge the level of importance you would like to see for each of the topics that were surveyed.

Pool

There have been some changes to the laws regarding public swimming pools. We are required by law to have several inspections done on the pool to check their level of compliance. If we pass everything will go on as normal. If not we will need to make the required changes. There will be decisions to make about the pool after the inspection.

Carports

Several of our carports are going to under go repairs. Some of them have sustained damage from moving vans, etc. These will be repaired in the next couple of weeks.

Clubhouse Ramp

We finally have a ramp leading into the clubhouse. This is a great improvement. In addition to the ramp at the clubhouse, we are making additional wheelchair/stroller friendly ramps on the curbs to create better access to our sidewalks.

Plants

Many of our green-thumbed neighbors have taken the initiative to plant the flower beds in front of their patios. Doing this, can/has greatly improved the look of our condos. In order to have some control over the grounds, we only request that you review with Gerald Smith, on the committee, about your plans before you plant.

Clubhouse Rental

In the past, Linda Russell has been the person to contact to reserve the clubhouse. For the time being, contact Sandy Shephard if you need to make a clubhouse reservation.

Garden Park Lamp

Most have probably already noticed that the lamp that is in the island as you enter Garden Park is missing. This was not a decision made by the committee, but, a decision made only by those who vandalized and destroyed the lamp post.
